Extinction coefficient measurement of supercritical water-based multi-walled carbon nanotube nanofluids

This study measured the extinction coefficients of supercritical water (SCW)-based multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanofluids by using an in-house developed chamber. A He–Ne laser with a wavelength 632.8 nm was employed as light source. Rod-shaped quartz diameter 3 mm and length 305 installed at top bottom chamber so that could pass through To maintain SCW-based MWCNT in chamber, designed to reach up 400 °C 30 MPa. Based on experimental data, it is shown coefficient linearly increases within range volume fraction from 0 0.02 vol. % belongs independent scattering regime. Moreover, enhancement shows promise working fluid for ultra-high temperature solar thermal systems, such concentrated power plants.
